Kimi Katkar (11th December, 1965) is a Bollywood actress and a successful model. Katkar was a popular Indian actress from the 1980's and the early 1990's.


Kimi Katkar's first role that got attention on her, in a wet white dress, was in the 1985 Indian version of Tarzan with rubber crocodiles, plastic snakes, stuffed lions, and a stuffy Tarzan. She then did some really significant roles in well to do films. Her next big break came when she was cast opposite an angry young persona of Amitabh Bachchan as Jumma in Hum.


Early life

She was born in Mumbai.

A unpublished, unsourced news source in June 1991 claimed Katkar is the daughter of the BollyWood actress Nimmi, but failed to offer any evidence, other than some alleged "face resemblance"



Career

Her first role that got attention on her, in a wet white dress, was in the 1985 Indian version of Tarzan with rubber crocodiles, plastic snakes, stuffed lions, and a stuffy Tarzan. She then did some really significant roles in well to do films. Her next big break came when she was cast opposite an angry young persona of Amitabh Bachchan as Jumma in Hum. The hugely popular song Jumma Chumma from the same movie gave a boost to her career.

After doing some more singing-dancing routines in Govinda's films, as well as acting opposite Vinod Khanna in films such as Ustad and acting along with stars Sanjay Dutt and Anil Kapoor, she retired from Bollywood and married ace photographer and ad-filmmaker Shantanu Sheorey.

In March 2001 Katkar agreed to do a lifestyle cum food TV show co-hosted by Karen Anand.



Personal life

Katkar married a commercial photographer and advertising film producer, Shantanu Sheorey. She was popularly noted to be the ex-girlfriend of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt.
